To get the most out of Kinomap, you need to connect your sports equipment to the application. The connection allows Kinomap to retrieve data from your equipment, such as speed, power, or cadence.
Follow the steps below to add and connect your equipment.
Before you start
Make sure that Bluetooth is enabled on the smartphone or tablet used with Kinomap.
Also make sure that your equipment is turned on and that its Bluetooth is enabled. Some equipment requires Bluetooth to be activated manually.
Access your equipment management
Open the Kinomap application. From the "Browse" screen, tap the Bluetooth icon located at the top right.
You can also access this page from "My profile":
"My profile" > Gear icon > "Equipment management"
Add new equipment
From the "My equipment" page, tap the "+" button or "Add new equipment".
Kinomap then guides you through the different steps required to identify and connect your equipment.
Select your equipment type
Choose the type of equipment you want to use with Kinomap, for example:
Home Trainer
Exercise Bike
Treadmill
Elliptical
Rowing Machine
Select your equipment type, then tap "Next".
Select the brand of your equipment
Then search for the brand of your equipment in the list provided. You can use the "Search" bar to find it more quickly.
Can't find your brand?
If the brand of your equipment does not appear in the list, tap "I can't find my brand". Kinomap will then perform a search based on the Bluetooth protocols most commonly used by compatible equipment. This may allow a connection to be established even if your brand or model is not yet listed in our list.
Select the exact model
After selecting the brand, choose the exact model of your equipment from the list.
This step is important: two pieces of equipment from the same brand do not necessarily use the same Bluetooth protocol. Selecting a model different from yours may therefore prevent the connection or cause incorrect data transmission. Once the correct model has been selected, tap "Next".
Select your Bluetooth equipment
Kinomap now searches for available Bluetooth equipment nearby. When your equipment appears under "Equipment found", select it and then tap "Next".
Don't know which device to select?
If several Bluetooth devices appear and you do not know which one corresponds to your equipment:
turn off or unplug your sports equipment
see which device disappears from the list
turn on or plug your equipment back in
wait for the device to reappear
select this device
👉 The device that disappears and then reappears generally corresponds to your equipment.
Check data reception
Once the connection has been established, Kinomap displays a page allowing you to check the data received from your equipment.
Start pedaling, running, or rowing to check that values appear. Depending on your equipment, you may find:
power in Watts
speed
cadence
heart rate if a compatible sensor is connected
The status of your equipment should also appear as "Connected".
It is not enough for the equipment to be displayed as "Connected": you must also check that Kinomap is receiving the data correctly when you use your equipment. If no data appears or if your equipment remains stuck on "Connecting...", see our article: I have a connection problem with my equipment.
Your equipment is ready!
Congratulations! 🎉
If your equipment appears as "Connected" and the data is being transmitted correctly in the application, the setup is complete.
You can now select a workout and start your activity on Kinomap. 🚴♂️🏃♂️🚣♂️
