Kinomap is an indoor training application enabling multi-level connectivity with indoor cycling and cardio training equipment. Content is fed via the Kinomap website, which hosts the world's largest platform for sharing fully geolocalized video content.
Most of this content is made up of geotagged scenic videos, produced and shared on Kinomap by content creators, either voluntarily and spontaneously, or under contract. Content shared via the website is verified and validated by Kinomap or its collaborators before being made accessible via the application.
Certain imperatives, linked to Kinomap's general conditions of use or to specific specifications, may lead Kinomap's teams to moderate the publication of content on the application, said content remaining accessible on the website for viewing or sharing purposes via the embeddable player.
Kinomap is entirely responsible for its activity, both technically (infrastructure, applications, websites) and commercially, with the aim of ensuring financial equilibrium, and enabling the development of the business in complete independence. Consequently, Kinomap remains free and responsible for its choices, its communication, the management of human/material and immaterial resources, the provision of existing or future functionalities in the application and on the website.
This includes the development or discontinuation of certain functionalities or interfaces, but also the definition and application of the editorial line, which may take the form of content promoted to users, whether subscribers or not, via all possible mechanisms such as playlists, challenges, selections of the week, special events, multiplayer sessions...
Kinomap has set up a Reward program, a monetization system specific to Kinomap that enables content creators to earn a profit linked to the audience for their videos, with revenue generated exclusively by the sale of subscriptions to the application's users. This program is directly conditioned by the audience share captured by a content creator. Naturally, the quality, relevance and interest of a piece of content, and therefore its ability to capture a large share of the audience, play a key role in generating the amount paid out. Kinomap sets the thresholds and conditions of access to this program, as well as the amounts allocated and the terms of payment to content creators, who accept the conditions unreservedly by signing a contract.
In this way, content creators become partners of Kinomap, which expects them to behave appropriately in all circumstances, including on social networks.
Kinomap's business model is similar to that adopted by other content and video-sharing platforms, including certain social networks. Instead of being based on advertising and therefore the number of views per unique visitor, Kinomap takes into account audiences and the amount of time spent by users on each video as part of the flat-rate subscription (i.e. not directly linked to the number of views). As Kinomap does not offer any advertising, subscribers are exclusively responsible for generating sales.
Considering the total number of content creators, its global audience and the sums paid out, Kinomap is surely the most accessible and profitable platform in the field of remuneration for content creators aimed at the general public.
For the time being, Kinomap has not opted for sponsored content systems to boost audiences in return for payment. The editorial policy is designed to guarantee quality of service to users, to encourage them to subscribe and remain subscribed for the long term. Depending on the season, the user's profile and the type of connected equipment (exercise bike, home trainer, treadmill or treadmill, rowing machine, elliptical or cross trainer, etc.), the content available can be customized.
At the same time, Kinomap is free to choose the most appropriate content to optimize audiences and subscription conversion. Content must meet objective criteria of technical quality, as well as the interest and disorientation of the environment in which the video is shot.
It's worth noting that the majority of Kinomap's users today are individual sports enthusiasts (in connection with outdoor sports) or physical activity enthusiasts (weight loss, cardio training).
Selections allow us to offer the best possible experience, with simplified access to improve the conversion of new users into subscribers and the retention of confirmed subscribers. In no case does Kinomap follow a logic of promotion based on the number of published contents, or a rotation based on the exposure of each of its creators without taking into account criteria of audience, localization and relevance of the proposed contents.
There is no equity among content creators to be sought in this policy of content prominence. The aim is to give subscribers easier access to the content most suited to their individual practice. The application also features a recommendation engine designed to personalize access to video content according to the user's profile, connected equipment, level and the nature of past workouts (duration, difficulty, geography, etc.).
It's important to add that highlighting content in no way restricts content creators, as all video content remains accessible and visible in the same way as others, in filter searches, from their respective profiles, and from the recommendation engine based on each practitioner's profile and past training. This process is managed by Artificial Intelligence-driven automations based on machine learning principles, which retain targeted criteria for each user. These include duration, distance, difficulty, adaptation to the equipment used and slope profile, to recommend specific workouts for each user. The more you train, the more refined this solution becomes. As a result, the top 10 videos for each country regularly include content not included in the week's selection.
With a view to improving its editorial line and considering the gradual roll-out of new functions for adapting content to users' profiles, Kinomap has set up mechanisms for working more closely with content creators who were already showing the best performance in terms of audience. The first cohort of testers was selected on the basis of a calculation indexing audience scores in relation to the number of videos published over a recent period, in order to have an instantaneous popularity trend, and not take into account a distant history. The aim here was to test a system that would enable several levels of content creators to be set up, classifying content creators according to their degree of collaboration with Kinomap, and their popularity within the application.
These levels imply both an audience and a community reached by content creators on Kinomap, but also on other social networks to spread the word about the application within their communities outside Kinomap), the quality and diversity of their content, but also benefits and quid pro quos.
No particular logic of equity or equality is pursued here; Kinomap concentrates on selecting content of minimal quality, and adapted to its majority audience.
Although the content put forward contributes greatly to the visibility of content creators, it is their own responsibility to develop their audience or to adapt their content to a majority audience (choice of activities, duration and difficulty of proposed sessions, quality of proposed videos, interest of proposed videos, editing of titles, descriptions and tools for animating one's community must be considered above all).
Popularity is based on the ratings achieved during workouts carried out by users of the application. Content creators therefore need to produce videos that appeal to the widest possible audience if they want to maximize their reach.
The year 2025 will be devoted to testing and deploying systems enabling content creators to identify their content as eligible for promotion, by evaluating the technical quality of the content and the interest of the videos proposed. As this roll-out is progressive, test groups will be set up over the course of 2025, then expanded as the processes are tested and deployed. Gradually, content creator levels will be rolled out publicly, following test periods with restricted cohorts.
All content creators will be informed of these final processes in due course.
The Kinomap teams are aware that this may cause some misunderstanding, which is why we are making this information public today.
Kinomap takes very seriously the recent outbursts on the application's facebook communities, and on its support, which go far beyond the expression of frustration, justified or not. We will no longer tolerate insults, threats or defamatory statements against Kinomap, its teams, or other collaborators or partners from content creators who are considered partners or collaborators. Our sole motivation is to obtain the best immersive training experience for users, based on adapted content of recognized quality, as proposed by the content creators.
