What is the FTMS protocol?

FTMS is the new Bluetooth FITNESS MACHINE SERVICE protocol for controlling fitness equipment such as exercise bikes, treadmills, and rowing machines.

Making equipment compatible with Kinomap used to be very difficult, because each piece of equipment had its own specific protocol.

Now, with the FTMS protocol, any new equipment with this Bluetooth protocol will automatically be compatible with Kinomap, as it is a standard protocol that is already integrated into our application.

Manufacturers are gradually rolling out this protocol, and perhaps yours will soon be too. If so, you'll need to update your console, which is usually done via the manufacturer's application.
